Tanya L. Hankins, J.D.
Tanya Hankins advocates for survivors of sexual abuse and sex abuse material, no matter their age, location, or where they are in their healing process. Ms. Hankins represents some of the most highly traded series of child sex abuse material (CSAM) identified by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and has obtained hundreds of thousands of dollars of combined restitution for her clients over the past decade. She understands the lifetime of trauma that her clients carry from the injuries caused by their perpetrators and is committed to a plan of action that is trauma-informed, sensitive to the nature of her clients’ individual experiences, and supports their healing process. At the same time, Ms. Hankins fights to protect the rights of her clients, while maximizing the restitution and civil relief available to them.
Ms. Hankins earned her J.D. from Seattle University Law School in 2004, where she focused on immigration and international law and assisted women survivors of abuse to navigate the immigration system. She obtained her license to practice law from the Washington State Bar Association in November 2004. Since then, Ms. Hankins has continued to hone her knowledge and expertise to support crime victims through trainings with the Children’s Justice Conference, the American Association of Justice, and the Trauma Foundation's trauma-informed certification program. Ms. Hankins has successfully held entities, such as the foster care system, mental health facilities, and businesses, accountable for their facilitation of abuse against survivors. She devotes her practice to advocating for victims of CSAM and other sex abuse crimes in a manner that is survivor-sensitive, survivor-informed, and survivor-led so that their voices may be heard.
